The history of Dorf Tirol - Tirol Castle

Anyone coming to Dorf Tirol for the first time will quickly realise why the counts once built their residence here.

High above Merano, where the valley widens and the light falls golden over the slopes, stands Tyrol Castle - the heart of an entire region. Built in the 12th century, it was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol and later gave the region its name.

The location:
grand, protected, dignified.

Today, the castle tells of centuries of change: of knights and reforms, of times of splendour and silence. Its walls breathe history. But when you stand there, you feel one thing above all: vastness.

From the castle gallery, you can look out over apple orchards, vineyards and the entire Adige Valley. A panorama that is almost reverent - the same view that once accompanied the counts. The Hotel Patrizia is just a few minutes away. And sometimes, when the light falls over the roofs in the evening, it seems as if history is quietly wafting over.

Dorf Tirol remains a place of beauty, tranquillity and a view into the distance – and perhaps that is the true luxury: being part of it.

Favourite places

The outdoor area extends over three levels, each with its own charm and plenty of space for an undisturbed break:

– the sunbathing lawn right by the pool
– the warm wooden terrace for reading and relaxing
– the upper sunbathing lawn, elevated and particularly quiet

Everyone will find their favourite spot here – whether for relaxing, reading, soaking up the sun or simply letting go.

Service right down to the deckchair

The garden not only offers peace and quiet, but also service:
Drinks and snacks are served right up to your deckchair.

An Aperol Spritz, a glass of Pinot Blanc, a club sandwich, a scoop of ice cream or some fresh fruit – summer days at Patrizia taste of lightness.

Your place in the garden awaits
